Tegan and Sara return with the October 26th 2009 release of
their new album Sainthood on Vapor / Sire / Warner Bros. Records.
The album follows their acclaimed 2007 album The Con that won
praise from publications including The Guardian, NME, Observer
Music Monthly and Time Out. The duo will follow the album's
release with three UK dates in November.
Tegan and Sara recorded Sainthood at Sound City, Los Angeles and
Seattle's Two Sticks. Production was handled by Death Cab For
Cutie's Chris Walla with Howard Redekopp and Dave Sardy
(Oasis, The Ting Tings) on mixing duties.
Sainthood addresses secular themes of devotion, delusion and
exemplary behaviour in the pursuit of love and relationships. The
thirteen track album focuses on themes of obsession with romantic
ideals. The title is borrowed from the lyrics of the Leonard
Cohen song Came So Far For Beauty - "I practised all my
sainthood / I gave to one and all / But the rumours of my virtue
/ They moved her not at all."
The album first single Hell is available now.
November finds the Canadian twins returning to these shores for
their first UK shows in almost two years. They will play:
November 2009
13th - London, Shepherds Bush Empire
14th - Manchester, Academy 2
15th - Edinburgh, Picture House
Tegan and Sara were first signed to Vapor Records in 2000 by
Elliot Roberts and Neil Young and Sainthood represents their
sixth studio album to date. Over the course of their career,
they've toured with Neil Young, The Killers, Ryan Adams,
Death Cab For Cutie and Ben Folds and appeared on the David
Letterman, Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O'Brien shows.
Their songs have been covered by artists including The White
Stripes, Alkaline Trio and Cancer Bats.
